Usually around a dozen women show up. About half of them have been before and half of them are here for the first time. A wide range of people who identify as women come and that's one of the things I love about it. Women in their 30's and early 40's predominate, with a few women in their 20's, a few in their 50's (including me!), occasionally women in their 60's and 70's. Culturally it's a wide range of diversity. All orientations. Women who are in monogamous relationships, from decades to just a few months. Women who are polyamorous. Women who are single and dating. Everyone is in a different place and we have a lot to learn from each other.
I usually start off with a topic and we go around the circle to introduce ourselves. Women say something about themselves, or something about the topic I raise. Sometimes the conversation just takes off from there. Sometimes we will each write on an index card something we'd like to talk about - a question, a problem, a pet peeve - then we go through the cards one by one and talk. We've never gotten through all the cards!
It's a comfortable space with cozy floor pillows and rugs. There are chairs too! There is usually some wine, people bring other beverages and snacks to share. It feels like hanging out with good friends, because the conversation gets very intimate, very fast. People start to leave after about 2 hours, but others stay... the last people leave around 11, reluctantly.
